Living a Life of Purpose: Embracing God’s Original Intent

We often hear about “finding purpose” as the ultimate life goal. But what does that mean in a spiritual context? Living a life of purpose is about understanding and stepping into God’s original intent for each of us. God created every one of us with a unique purpose that is woven into the fabric of who we are, even if life’s struggles may cloud that understanding at times.

1. What Does It Mean to Live a Life with Purpose?

When we live with purpose, we align ourselves with God's vision for our lives. It’s not just about our personal ambitions, but understanding our lives through God’s plan and our TRUE God-given purpose, to be part of building the Kingdom of the Lord here on earth.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 8:28-29, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love the Lord, who have been called according to God’s purpose." This means that each event in our lives, good or challenging, is part of a larger process that prepares us to fulfil God's calling.

2. God’s Original Intent

Before we took our first breath, God already had a purpose for us. In other words, your purpose was predestined before you came into this world! Everything is set in place for you to prosper and succeed… BUT it’s according to God's PURPOSE, created to glorify God in all we do.

When you are born again, there is a new process that starts in your life, in other words, you start to live in the purpose that you were created for. You become who God originally intended you to be.

Ephesians 1:4-5 tells us that God chose us before the foundation of the world. Though the world may distract us from this divine intent, God’s original purpose remains. Proverbs 19:21 reminds us, “Many are the plans in the mind of a human being, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.” God’s intention is steadfast, even when our own paths veer off course.

Who and what God has destined you to be, CANNOT be taken away from you.

3. Embracing Our Divine Purpose

Our divine purpose connects us with God’s Kingdom in a way that blesses others. 1 Peter 2:9 says we are chosen “to declare the praises of God who called us out of darkness into the Lord’s wonderful light.” This is not only relevant to our personal lives; it’s part of a larger purpose, where each believer is key to advancing God’s Kingdom on the earth.

The majority of human beings will die without knowing their purpose on earth… When we don’t know our purpose, we waste so much of our life.

4. The Process of Purpose

Finding our purpose involves a process. Just as seasons in nature guide the growth of plants, the seasons in our lives help shape and prepare us for our calling. Romans 12:2 says “Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” A renewed mind helps us discern God’s will, which becomes clearer as we heal, grow, and mature spiritually.

The emphasis on spiritual and emotional healing is part renewing the mind. Because you can’t discern, you can’t know God will, God’s purpose without the clarity of a renewed mind.

5. Staying on Track with Purpose

Finally, staying in alignment with God’s purpose means discerning our process and yielding to it. Joshua, who followed and learned from Moses, embraced his purpose by submitting to God’s process and timing. When we remain prayerful, connected to a community of believers, and being open to receiving healing caused by past hurts, we’re better equipped to recognise God’s guidance and follow the path the Lord has laid out.

People talk about leaving a legacy but what will your spiritual legacy be? Because your spiritual legacy involves building for destiny, on purpose with purpose, through the anointing.

In every season, God is working in us. Living in alignment with God’s purpose transforms not only our lives but those around us, drawing others to Christ through Holy Spirit working within us. Yield to the process, trust God’s timing, and know that God’s purpose will prevail.
